Our Spouse

We must remember that God is working on our hearts as much as He is working on our spouse’s.

Many times, we see a character trait in our spouse that we want to change—so we get to work trying to fix parts that we perceive as broken. This can materialize as nagging, complaining, and sometimes fighting about all that they’re doing wrong.

We must not assume too much power in these situations, and we need to trust God to finish the work he started in both our lives.

Our roles are clear: love fiercely, encourage relentlessly, and pray continually. God will do what only He can do: fix hearts. Behavior will change as our hearts change.

Remember what Paul wrote: “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” ~ Phil 1:6
